Free Agency Begins

Just as the draft winds down, the flood gates open for free agents. And in my opinion the hottest commodities are Ray Allen who is rumored to be going to the Heat and Dwight Howard who I last heard requested to go to the Nets.

First of all, as a huge Lebron fan and subsequently a heat fan I am not thrilled of the joining of Ray Allen to the squad, he obviously won't be a starter but I like the guys on our bench minus Turiaf or as Shay calls him, Turd-iaf. So I would hate to see these good guys on our bench lose playing time with the addition of Allen but it could be just the fact that I don't like Ray Allen, at all. He might be able to sink 3's but it would be so hard to cheer for him after rooting so hard against him. Shay thinks he will get paid to sit on the bench and just be used when the boys we have used this season need a break. If Battier continues being consistent with his shooting, then Allen will have some competition for playing time with him. Shay also thinks he could take Millers place altogether, and with his recent back trouble he should literally watch his back. Vent done, MOVING ON- Howard is probably the most popular name post-draft. We have known for a long time he wanted out of Orlando he wouldn't be the Dwight Howard we know and love if he kept quiet. Nope, he syays what is on his mind and he will get his way one way or the other, reference to Peace out Van Gundy. The most recent sources say he would like to go to the Brooklyn Nets(that's gonna take some getting used to). Now with the nets just drafting TyShawn Taylor (in my opinion the most under-estimated draft pick) adding a power house Center like Howard would be a good start to an offensive/defensive arsenal. But what about Deron Williams? Hmm, he is someone I am not sure of, he told sources he would have a decision by Sunday, possibly waiting to see who comes at him and what happens with Howard.

This is the part of basketball that just turns into an inter-twining web of back and forth, honestly how did we get along without the constant updates from ESPN and the players themselves on Twitter? I'm gonna be like a stockbroker being glued to my phone on the stock market, thank goodness school is out for summer and double thank goodness I don't have to worry about where Lebron will be taking his talents to, please no more decisions like that for a while boo boo.

Ok I think I have gotten all the NBA talk out of my system for today, I wonder what notifications I will wake up to tomorrow.

Draft Hype 2012

With the 2012 NBA draft winding down, We hope we are not the only ones shocked by the first round. With all the anticipation leading up to this years draft because of all the high caliber players, there was also that excitement of a new beginning in the NBA, a lot of these young men are going to be future Lebron's, Kobe's, and I even heard mention of a Jordan.

Amongst all the talented men that went there was one and has been one that always stuck out to me, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, I watched him all season long knowing he would be big someday and towards the end of their regular season he had mentioned satying with Kentucky, but having the honor of working under The Michael Jordan, I think out weighs anything Coach Cap could have offered him with another year in Kentucky.

Now past my fan-girling there a few things that need to be said, first of all for all the trailblazer fans out there you may think you got a good PG but I would have liked to see Lamb go there, but you fans seem confident in these picks, forgive us non-Blazers fans for being skeptical of the franshices ability to draft picks as they passed up two of the greatest players such as Jordan and Druant. ANOTHER mindblowing thing was Cunningham going so early, yes big deal he played at Oregon State, but as a non-school biased basketball fan there were many good picks before him, the fact the Jones III and many others sat in their seats has he got called too early I think wasa shock to everyone, we certainly couldn't believe, Shay and I look at each other with out jaws dropped and eyes wide, bittersweet to us because we feel that it was a surprising pick but a lot of our favorite draftees still sat getting called lower. However there is talks of a trade deal with Dallas that we are looking into. Shay feels it was quite surprising that so many big names from last season went so late. We could break apart these picks but why? they have been done and we don't run these franchises we just would have chosen differently. Now we get to sit back and watch these young talents unfold.

The day after the draft we decided to watch our favorite men pick apart he draft on ESPN's First Take, we are both quite fond of Stephen A Smith and from time to time Skip Bayless can say a decent, smart thing.... once in a while. They only further reinforced our thoughts on this years draft.

We were both happy to see the UCONN, Kentcuky, and Duke boys get up there.
We will be going to the Blazer games when the Cavs, Heat, Wizards, and now Bobcats and Hornets come to Portland to cheer our college faves on and of course our current favorite NBA players, my King James, and Shay's favorites in John Wall and Kyrie Irving.

Next thing to look forward to is the USA Olympic Basketball team, bring home the gold boys!
